Black Friday. Mercado Libre provides recommendations for a safe purchase during the sale seasons. User investment in purchases through the platform is expected to be S/ 320.

At the gates of the start of the most important stage of the last quarter of the year, consumers are waiting for their favorite stores and brands to enter the sales season to be able to purchase their favorite products and gifts for their loved ones.

In 2021, during Black Friday week, visits to the Marketplace increased by 15% compared to regular weeks. In addition, the most demanded categories were Technology, Fashion and Sports, and Home, where the average ticket was S/ 460.00, S/ 165.00 and S/ 215.00, respectively.

For this reason, Mercado Libre provides recommendations to its users to make the desired purchases through e-commerce platforms without problems:

Users often take advantage of sales campaigns such as Black Friday to advance Christmas gifts or to purchase technological devices that have considerable discounts. In this sense, from Mercado Libre we want to prepare our users so that they are alert and prepared for any type of improvisation,” said Pedro White, Country Head of Mercado Libre Peru.

Likewise, according to figures provided by the platform, the most searched products/subcategories during 2021 were:

  2. Cell phones (24%)
  3. Computing (17%)
  4. Clothing and Accessories (8%)
  5. Games and toys (7%)

For the edition that will take place on November 25 of this year, the Technology, Home and Toys categories will have up to a 60% discount in Mercado Libre. During this period, users are projected to invest approximately between S/300 and S/350.

In terms of payments, Mercado Pago, a payment processor for Mercado Libre and other companies, expects that this Christmas the method of payment with interest-free installments will predominate throughout the campaign since, last year, 23% of the purchases made with a credit card were made under this option, which has been on a growing trend throughout the year.

It should be noted that, during this season of high demand, Mercado Libre is committed to continuing to ship quickly and safely, within 24 hours for Metropolitan Lima and within 48 hours nationwide, and free of charge for purchases greater than S/ 79.00.
